Covington- Sheriff Detectives said that a man that was murdered near a Covington home on Sunday was bludgeoned to death and not shot as originally reported.

Just after 5:30 on Sunday evening the King County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from  a residence in the 26800 block of 172nd Pl SE in the City of Covington.  The caller reported a man had been shot in the head in a camper behind the house and indicated the suspect was still at the location.

Covington police along with King County deputies quickly responded to the scene and detained four people for questioning.  The victim, a 46 year old man, was located in the trailer behind the house and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate.

Shortly before 11:00 PM, detectives arrested one of the people originally detained, a 26 year old man for investigation of homicide.

A thorough investigation by the detectives revealed the victim had actually been bludgeoned to death, not shot as originally reported.  The circumstances leading up to the altercation are still being investigated.
