Maple Valley

Maple Valley- A King County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a van this morning for a traffic violation and discovered the van had been stolen from the Mayor of Maple Valley, Bill Allison.

The deputy stopped the van in the area of the 23900 block of 196 Ave SE around 8:30 this morning. The 45 year old man driving the vehicle only had an I.D. card and could not produce any paperwork for the vehicle.

A Maple Valley officer pulled up to the stop and recognized the van as belonging to the Maple Valley mayor. The officer called the mayor who said that his van was in fact missing.

The man driving the van told officers he had taken the van from a parking lot and was on his way to “drug court.” The man also had a suspended drivers license and a warrant for his arrest from Bonnie Lake. He was booked into the RJC for Investigation of Possession of Stolen Property and his warrant.

Mayor Bill Allison said he was impressed that his “van was recovered and very thankful of the work of the King County Sheriff’s Office and the Maple Valley Police Department.”
